Hi Maxime, and congratulations on being the featured artist for our third freestyle pack ‘Experiments III’! Tell us a bit about yourself.
INTERVIEWING – MAXIME DES TOUCHES
EXHIBITION XV – EXPERIMENTS III
I’m a 32 years old french, digital artist / designer who loves to work with his computer and his dear laser mouse to create pictures of all kinds, mainly sci-fi artworks and abstracts ones. I’ve learned many things in computer graphics by myself with the help of magazines and Internet of course since 2008, but I love to fumble everywhere with a software! This is my personal method to know if you feel well with it. Also, I am a member of great online International Art Collectives, like Cosmosys and The Luminarium, so these collectives help me a lot to become a better artist and I really enjoy to work and share my creations with them.
It’s not your first pack in Cosmosys, as you are here with us for quite some while. How does it feel you finally got to get featured here?
Sure, if you check all the artworks I did since many years, you won’t see the same thing. I have many influences and references, like movies, literature, magazines, advertising and of course many artists from all around the world. My style is not a ‘style’ in particular, I want and I try to experiment new things in my workflow. In definitive, I always say that “Don’t be in a box”, see and feel what you have in mind, explore yourself! My goal is just to have fun each time without any limits.
That makes sense. Do you like to work on themes or do you prefer, as this pack, freestyle?
Both are fine ! To work on a special theme helps me to concentrate more on my workflow, from Photoshop to C4D or 3DSMAX etc. I have to be more strict with myself. Freestyle is good to put what you have in mind directly. No limits and no fences around !
Do you have any inspirational sources? Someone you look up to?
My first inspirational sources are movies and music, I think. Doing artworks with music that you love is just a pure moment. About artists I love, I can mention ‘Christopher Shy’ from the Ronin Studio. He does art between Science Fiction, surreal an abstract mood. Just amazing! Once again, I’m curious about thousand of graphic style, photos, digital art. Many websites help me to find some new artists and way to do a new approach in my artworks, like Behance, From Up North and simply Pinterest.
Sounds great! I know you are also an artist at other collectives, such as The Luminarium. How do you combine all of your work?
Yes, to be an artist of another great international art collective is not an easy thing! I use to do my artworks step by step for one art collective first. I don’t want to create 3 or 4 pieces at the same time, it is the best way to do some bad stuff. One theme, one artcollective to create brand new “original” artworks.
Alright. Last question: You have made a lot of contributions to Cosmosys. In your opinion, what is your favorite you made for Cosmosys, no matter what pack?
Hmmm, hard question! I think my favorite piece for the moment is Dephazis, it cames from nowhere! A mix between abstract and Sci-Fi worlds. And maybe because it was my very first contribution to the group, it is like a part of me.
Thanks for your time, Maxime, and again, congratulations! Any last words or advice?
Thanks to the Cosmosys team and thanks to all my mates! Very glad to work with you, hope it will continue for long time.
