Congratulations for being chosen as Featured Artist for Cosmosys’ 109th exhibition “X”. Let’s start with telling us a bit about yourself. Where are you from and how did you get in touch with digital art ?
INTERVIEWING – JOSUE IVAN
EXHIBITION X – “X”
Thanks so much for the feature. I believe I’m the 2nd of the Staff group to be chosen Featured Artist. I honestly did not expect it, but thank you once again. Well I’m from California I reside in Los Angeles, I will be 22 years old this coming March. I work Full-Time for a Fashion Company in the Fashion Disctrict by Down Town L.A. I’m a Graphic Designer and Photo Editor there. I started with digital art creating small canvas art we called “Signatures” in some forums. From there I branched out to larger canvas size and also Web Design & Development.
Which artists you believe that have influenced your work the most?
So many artist now in days that are very inspirational. I like abstract art the most, also conceptual – abstract basically anything abstract inspires me to create my art works.
How much time do you usually spend on creating your works and how is your workflow ?
Now that I’m more of a busy person working 8-9 hrs a day and after that hitting the gym, I only have time to work on my art pieces on the weekends. It can take me up to 3 weeks to over 2 months to finish a project. Before I used to rush things, but now I’ve been told to take it slow, if I get stuck and run out of ideas. Close photoshop and open it some hours later or another day and this strategy has helped me a lot.
You have been in the group since the beginning, how do you feel the way Cosmosys has grown and how it has reached publicity?
This group has grown a lot and very fast, I remember starting in 2009 with only about 12 artists. We now have over 30, we get a lot of applications weekly it’s just going great for us right now. We were recently been published in the 96th Issue of Advanced Photoshop magazine, our “Eperiments II” exhibition was featured in PSDtuts. Also the blog Abduzeedo has featured us as well. Everything is flowing in a positive way for this group which is awesome.
Outside of your own work, what was your favorite contribution to the exhibition?
This is kind of hard, there are many great submissions on this one; Transience by Martin Grohs, 602tro643ubl by mks-7zdesigns and Ten Desires by Desirdrive are my top fave.
Who is the most inspiring individual to you? What impact have they had on your art?
There really aren’t any individuals who inspire me, it’s just the way I get my inspiration to create Art that I find inspiring.
Thank you for sharing so much about yourself in this interview! Do you have any last words for our readers?
Never give up, to any artist in the world keep trying, experimenting – no matter how many people put you down and tell you that your work sucks or that you’re not great. If your art is good in your eyes it’s all that counts, everyone has different tastes and opinions not everyone likes the samething.
I also want to thank all of the Cosmosys Artist for always contributing and helping eachother out. We have an awesome community, and I encourage you to join us if you haven’t yet, apply to be an artist for our collective. Thanks to the artists that have stuck with us since the day that they were accepted and haven’t moved on or forgotten about this wonderful group.
